Blog

Everyone has struggles in one way or another but only a small number will take the leap and seek support through therapy.

I started my blog to try and share what I have learnt since starting my counselling journey to try and help people to overcome life’s challenges

I post every two weeks, so find yourself a comfy spot, grab yourself your favourite hot drink and join me on my journey to help you be the best you possible.

What can counselling do for me?

“Do not set aside your happiness. Do not wait to be happy in the future. The best time to be happy is always now.

Roy T. Bennett

Imagine all of your problems are stinging nettles which are stuck in your favourite blanket. It hurts to try and hold onto the blanket so our natural reaction is to try and hide it away in the cupboard. The issue with this blanket is the same as our troubles and traumas, it keeps falling out of the cupboard and no matter how hard we try, we can’t keep the door closed which means we keep getting stung.

In therapy, you sit down with your counsellor and for an hour each week, work together to gently unpick each of the nettles and after some time, you will once again be able to snuggle up in your favourite blanket.

What areas do you specialise in?

Counselling for Trauma

After living through something traumatic, the way our brains react to the world changes.

Our brains may start to kick into DANGER mode without reason and it is common to suffer with flashbacks and nightmares.

In counselling, we can work gently together to show your brain that the world is still safe. Often part of the work that I do is around helping people accept that what has happened to you has happened and whilst we can’t change that, we can work towards a future where it doesn’t define you or affect your day.

Counselling for Grief & Loss

We all experience loss at some point in our lives. When we lose a loved one or something important to us, we are often left feeling like they have taken a part of us with them. The feelings that we are left with are perfectly natural and will be different for different people.

Time is often a healer but if you are finding yourself stuck or struggling then counselling can be the support that you need. If you are grieving or know someone in need of support, please click the link below to find out how counselling can be of use.

Counselling for Anxiety

Everybody feels anxiety at times, its when the feelings of unease, worry or fear start to negatively impact your daily life, your health or your relationships, it can be a sign that you may need some additional support.

Counselling for anxiety is tailored to your needs as everyone experiences anxiety differently. We will work at your pace to gently uncover the causes behind your anxiety and work to overcome it. In counselling, we can go through some techniques that can help you to manage your anxiety whilst we explore and deal with its cause.

Please join me on my social media channels where I share some of my mental health learnings as well as a little positivity each day.
